" The two most important days in your life is the day you were born and the day you find out why" - Mark Twain

I have watched an amazing, life changing sermon by Pastor Rick Warren. Pastor Warren addressed the one question every person asks in their lifetime.. Why am I here? What is the purpose of my life? Why am I alive? Does my life matter?

This is the most fundamental question of life. He goes on by saying that God created you for his pleasure, to love you for exactly who you are. There is NOTHING that you can do that will make Him stop loving you, because God's love is not based on who you are but WHO HE IS. This important question all starts with God. Knowing His heart. That is the first purpose.

“God has given each of you a gift from His great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another" 1 Peter 4:10 (NLT)

I would strongly recommend that you go read Pastor Rick Warren's book - Purpose Drive Life. This book addresses the 5 purposes for your life. The book was so popular that Hollywood made a movie based on the 4th purpose of life - Serve God by serving others. This movie is called "Captive." In the book (and now a movie) Pastor Warren tells the most dramatic "real- life" story about serving the undeserving.

Brian Nichols was on trail for rape. In the courthouse he managed to grab the gun from a deputy and shot the judge, shot the court reporter, shot the deputy and then shot a federal agent. He killed 4 people on March 11, 2005. He managed to escape. He kidnapped a young woman Ashley Smith, he took her to her own house and tied her up. At that time she thought that she was going to be raped and killed.

It so happened that Ashley just started a celebrating recovery program in Atlanta at a church (She was a drug addict) Someone gave her a copy of the Purpose Driven Life, it was laying around the house and over the hours and hours of captivity she started talking to Brian and asked him if she could read her book. Brian ended up asking Ashley to read the book out loud. She decided to serve this guy even if he was undeserving.

Watch this next clip of the movie and decide for yourself if it is worth watching. Ashley's story is an amazing example on how to Serve God by serving others. This is truly the purpose of life.

Are you using your God given talents and living a purposeful life that God intended for you? Think about it...
